A shoebox in the loft
My parents were both only children. So when an old cardboard shoebox came down from the loft, it held almost all that was left of the people who came before us.
Inside were these. Small sepia prints, worn at the corners. Motorcycles with sidecars, early automobiles, a tandem bicycle. Young faces full of a simple, giddy happiness, as if the whole century were opening up in front of them.
Generations past… Grandparents, Great-grandparents, Mother, Father… long before they would become Mum and Dad.
Some of these faces I never knew. Yet the longer I looked, the more I felt I owed them something. A story worth passing forward.
These faded snapshots below hold memories of real lives lived, and are in essence the true inspiration behind The Last Super.
I hope you’ll find some small part of them mirrored within its pages.
